Disciplinary Manager at the Institution of Structural Engineers
Kristy has worked in the professional body sector for many years, in the area of chemistry education, registration of scientists and for the last 7 years as Disciplinary Manager at the Institution of Structural Engineers. Kristy manages all aspects of the disciplinary process, including the initial investigation process whereby allegations are made and refuted and facts and evidence to support the assertions are submitted by the complainant and the member against whom the complaint is made.
It is increasingly evident that the presentation of the initial complaint is immensely important and is key in terms of being able to perform the investigation, screening, consideration and assessment of any complaint. The Institution’s procedures are constantly under review and Kristy is currently working closely with the Institution’s Professional Conduct Committee to produce new tools to assist both complainants and members to better structure their submissions.
The Institution is governed by it’s own Charter, Bylaws and Regulations and, in addition, as a Registered Body of the Engineering Council, licenced to award the designations CEng, IEng and TechEng , is obliged to abide by the Licencing requirements set down by the Engineering Council, these include requirements for the Disciplinary Process.
When Kristy is not in Disciplinary Manager mode, she enjoys cycling, cooking and not disciplining her 2 young children!
