Richard Farrant has been a financial, energy and competition regulator, having held senior positions in the Bank of England, Isle of Man Treasury, Hong Kong Banking Commission. Securities and Futures Authority, Financial Services Authority, Gas and Electricity Markets Authority and Competition Commission.
He has also held non executive board and trustee roles in UK investment banks and charities and acted as a companies act inspector.
He was appointed as a lay member to the Investigation Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) in 2000, which settles the majority of the Institute’s disciplinary cases, and its chairman in 2002. On retirement from this position he was appointed as a lay member of the Institute’s Disciplinary Tribunals, and has been a chairman of tribunals since 2013.
